The characteristics of the display are kind of similar to the iPad hence, maximum brightness, black level along with contrast are nearly identical to it. The Transformer Prime is easily the best Android tablet I have used to date. The Transformer comes with a 10.1-inch IPS (in-plane switching) display with a 1280 x 800 resolution and a screen density of 160 pixels per inch. It has gotten easier over time, but still not a fully natural process. The combination is meant to be transported in laptop mode, so I find I have to frequently dock/undock it unnecessarily. I like to use the Transformer Prime as a tablet most of the time, only using the dock when I want to do some serious writing. It's a somewhat awkward two-hand process to flip the release lever and lift the tablet away from the dock. Whether it is using the trackpad to move the cursor around the Home screens or scrolling down web pages with two-finger trackpad control, the inclusion of a trackpad is a great feature of the laptop configuration.Ĭlumsy tablet removal: The tablet is easy to pop into the laptop dock, but that's not the case for removing it. Trackpad: I didn't think the trackpad would be something that would factor heavily in my usage, but ASUS has implemented it wonderfully. The four arrow keys on the keyboard make precise positioning of the cursor so much easier than using touch on the screen. The Home key and Back key allow performing most Android functions without lifting my hands off the keys, a nice benefit. #ASUS TRANSFORMER ON SCREEN KEYBOARD UNDOCK BLUETOOTH#The top row of special function keys plays a big role in my usage of the Transformer Prime and laptop dock, giving instant access to things like turning Bluetooth on/off, volume control, and screen brightness control. That's important for a writer, and a great feature. Just when we thought Asus was running out of combinations for its hybrids, the Taiwanese manufacturer launched the Transformer Book V, a Windows-Android laptop/tablet/phone. I am a fast touch typist and I can really get going fast with the laptop dock. Keyboard: ASUS has put a lot of work in making the keyboard work without compromise, and it shows the more I use it. This is so liberating that I am never concerned about the kit lasting all day. With not buying the keyboard dock (hens teeth in the UK), I have spent the last week or so with the ASUS stock on-screen keyboard. Inputting, inserting, selecting, and copying text When the ASUS Transformer Pad is undocked, the panel keyboard appears when tapping on any text insertion. iPad 2 as a serious writing machine (how-to)īattery life: I can't say enough about having 18 - 20 hours on a charge with the Transformer Prime in the laptop dock. The Great Post-PC Experiment - Day 1 Notes.Walking the walk - the Great Post-PC Experiment. What is Post-PC? I’m thinking mobile OS vs.ASUS Transformer Prime: Perfect for business trips (review). #ASUS TRANSFORMER ON SCREEN KEYBOARD UNDOCK WINDOWS#It is still a very slow machine although i improved the performance by re-installing windows from scratch. This is a bit of a palava but it has worked for me. The battery icon will be back, and the charger should be reconnected to fully charge again. It should now start normally by holing the power button down for about 6 seconds. Release the power button and reconnect the charger and allow about 15 minutes to get enough charge to start. Then remover the charger and let the device fully run down again (keep the screen alive). The solution I read, and have used successfully twice now is to permanently hold the power button on with a thick elastic band, and keep the charger on for 24 hours. Also the battery icon is missing at that point. The device appears to work as long as you keep the power button held down, and will go all the way to fully start windows, until you release the button. If you hold the power button down for 45 seconds or more, and it begins to start up, but as soon as you release the button it immediately switches off than that is the diagnosis. Apparently if it goes into deep discharge the device does not recognise the fact it has been recharged.
